Canadian
artist, Tanya Torossian, began painting in 1997 with the bulk of
her earlier work consisting of portraits in acrylic paint.
Today, working with oils, acrylic
and at times in plaster, Torossian's work represents a study
of human behavior and interaction by means of abstract figures
and brilliant color combinations.
A self-taught artist who also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology,
Torossian develops her natural talent and intuition in art by exploring
her instinct and imagination.
Using
large brushes, her strokes are instinctive, energetic and sometimes
defiant with combinations of long and short strokes and textural
variations.
Based in Montreal, her paintings have sold in Canada, US
and Europe. Her most recent work includes a collection of musicians,
people in marketplaces and cafés taken from daily life
in the city of Montreal.
Her 2005 collection has sold-out.
